TurboT I1, a students’ team from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Karnataka chose Industries as their sector.
Within the industrial sector, maximizing day-lighting is one of the most efficient ways of reducing power consumption for lighting in large commercial /industrial buildings.
Hence they came up with an idea of auto-adjusting and positioning of light-sensitive roof panels to maximize day-lighting in buildings.

What is the Project all about?
To develop a scaled-down model / prototype of a commercial / industrial building with self-adjusting roof panels to maximize day-lighting throughout the day. In addition, the model may use other techniques such as a light shelf to optimize natural lighting throughout the day.
- Measure the intensity of luminance of incident sunlight through a Digital light sensor
- Control the arbitrary tint of the electro chromic glass to maintain required intensity
- The light after refraction from the glass is incident on the reflective collector (light shelf)
- The light shelf redirects the light beam on the ceiling made of reflecting film, thus diffusing sunlight across the industry space
- Switch to artificial light during low sunlight/ weather forecast
